Thought we forgot about you lot, didn’t you? Well, count your lucky stars because Next Luxury has the ultimate list of things to do when you’re single on Valentine’s Day. Whether you need something to drain the clock down on this romantic Hallmark holiday, or you want to avoid sulking in the corner.

No matter what you need, we’ve got singles covered. From heading out with other lonely peeps to investing in your own wellbeing, these are the 17 things to do when you’re single on Valentine’s Day in 2021.

1. Treat Yo Self!

Need we say more? This entire list is about treating your single self to a damn good Valentine’s Day. No lover required.

While everyone else is worrying about the right gift, the right flowers, or the right restaurant to visit, you’ll be treating yourself to whatever the hell you want to without consequence. Why? Because if anyone knows what you want for Valentine’s Day, it’s gotta be you.

So go on then, buddy. Do what you want. Buy what you want. Eat and drink what you want. Because Valentine’s Day isn’t just for couples, it’s for everyone. Especially you.

2. Throw a Party with Your Single Mates

Valentine’s Day is a fantastic opportunity to get on the sauce with a bunch of the boys. Grab a couple of slabs of beer. Call your local pizza joint. And pop on your favorite band and have a rager of a night.

Plus, if you’re really smart, you’ll invite a few single ladies along too for some Valentine’s Day mingling. Who knows, you might not have to reread this list next year.

3. Movie Marathon of Your Favorite Films

Whether you’re planning to watch the entire Lord of the Rings extended editions or just a couple of Pixar classics, movie marathons are an entertaining solution to passing the time on Valentine’s Day. Maybe you have a celebrity crush you fawn over from the couch. Or a favorite director you can admire from your bed.

It doesn’t really matter who or what it is when you’re watching a movie marathon of your favorite films on Valentine’s Day.

4. Visit a Museum

This one might be a little bit dependent on where you live and what venues are actually open at the moment, but if you’re fortunate enough to have a museum to visit, there’s no better time than Valentine’s Day.

Even though we did throw this into our regular Valentine’s Day date ideas, a museum isn’t always the most romantic location for every couple out there. So why not capitalize on this and avoid all those lovey-dovey couples on Valentine’s Day by visiting a museum for Valentine’s Day.

5. Plan a Trip Away

We don’t recall there being any holidays during February outside of this Hallmark celebration of love. So instead of fussing over your single status, why not focus your attention on a trip away just for you. Organize your own vacation.

Pick your destination and indulge in yourself. You could definitely use a holiday.

6. Get the Deluxe Barber Treatment

We cannot recommend visiting a proper barber enough. A truly exquisite event that will have you coming back for more, a deluxe barber treatment is something all men must experience. Be pampered. Get looked after. And enjoy the finer things in life for Valentine’s Day.

Think of it as a gift from you to you. Because if anyone deserves to look their best, it’s the singles on Valentine’s Day. Find your local barber, hop in the chair, and experience a deluxe treatment. You might even get a glass of whisky on the side too.

7. Eat and Drink Whatever You Want

Don’t let anyone tell you can’t eat all the marshmallows from the Lucky Charms box. Today is the day to eat and drink whatever you want. Think of it as a dinner party for one; you’re own personal date night.

Order everything you’ve ever wanted for takeaway. Pick up a few bottles of your favorite beverage. Pop them all down on the table and CONSUME ALL THE THINGS! Because you deserve it.

8. Go to a Singles Night

What’s better than one single person on Valentine’s Day? A whole party’s worth of singles on Valentine’s Day. With all the couples clearly marked, hunting down a potential partner is easier than ever at a singles night, especially on Valentine’s Day.

Whether you intend on getting to know someone more intimately or you just want to have a good time, a singles night is a great way to meet new people and let off some steam on Valentine’s Day.

9. Take a Class

In this digital world of ours, taking a class is not the same as it was twenty years ago. Involving everything from online courses to expert masterclasses. There’s never been a better time to learn something new.

Hit up Skillshare or the message board of your local community college. Take part in a cooking class, or be inspired by a motivational speaker. When it comes to education and learning, the world is your oyster.

10. Stay in and Play Video Games

Cyberpunk 2077, Hitman 3, Demon’s Souls, Microsoft Flight Simulator, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Doom Eternal, and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2. The list goes on and on. There are so many great video games outright for you to dive headfirst into on Valentine’s Day.

Whether it’s all those next-generation titles for the Xbox Series X, PS5, and Nintendo Switch I just listed, or retro gaming on your old Dreamcast. If you’re single on Valentine’s Day, we don’t even need to recommend staying in to play video games.

You’ve probably marked it down in your calendar already. Hit up your local GameStop before the 14th and send it to the moon.

11. Social Media Detox

Turn off your phone. Switch off the internet. Unplug the TV. And disconnect from all social media nonsense for just one day. Avoid all those mushy Valentine’s Day posts, skip over the date ideas, and detox from this hyper-connected world we all experience.

And yes, we understand the irony of suggesting such a thing from an online publication. Still, we recommend a social media detox for singles on Valentine’s Day in the interest of self-development and revitalization.

12. Binge an Entire TV Show

Binging an entire TV show series is not too dissimilar to engaging in an entertaining movie marathon. So take your pick. Are you tackling all eight seasons of Game of Thrones, or will you dive into the mystery that is Stranger Things? If you need a few laughs, why not choose between Friends and Seinfeld.

It can’t be that hard, right? Either that or you could learn a thing or two with Neil deGrasse Tyson and binge watch Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey. Remember, you’ve got all day. It’s just you and the remote.

13. Spend Time with Your Family

The only thing that can compete with romantic love is the love you receive from family. Skip all that sensual nonsense and visit your family.

Hug mum, talk to the old man, reminisce over the years gone past, and ground yourself with the people who raised you. Can’t visit them due to COVID? Why not set up a video call instead. Just be prepared for the eventual tech support portion of the evening.

14. Volunteer

Out of the goodness of your heart, consider volunteering on Valentine’s Day to help out those less fortunate than you are. Help out at the food kitchen, deliver meals on wheels, hand out blankets to the homeless, or look after the disabled.

There are so many options when it comes to volunteering, so take your pick and lend a helping hand this Valentine’s Day.

15. Read a Book

Reading a book on Valentine’s Day is a good one to combine with our #11 choice. Switch off everything and sit down with a good book and just read. It doesn’t even have to be on Valentine’s Day, and we’ll even make an exception if you only have an ebook reader to use.

Revive your vocabulary. Escape to radically different worlds and epochs. Embrace new characters, and embark on literary endeavors like never before.

Read a book this Valentine’s Day; you won’t regret it. Just don’t make it a romance. That could be counterproductive.

16. Visit a Strip Club

Strippy? Make it rain at the slaphouse with a couple of thong-dollaz on Valentine’s Day and shake that joint up. Visit the nudie bar for a couple of perky drinks.

Visit a dollar theater and tip some tips. Or watch the girls go clap-clap while you go tap-tap. Chuck on WAP by Cardi B and swipe your nose like a credit card.

17. Hit the Pub

Beers? Beers! If a strip club is a little too much for you, take yourself to the pub with the boys. Buy a couple of rounds for the lads.

Share stories over a few PBRs. And make a toast to the ones you call Bros. Because as the old saying goes, “mates before dates.” So go on, have a drink at the pub for Valentine’s Day. Cheers.
