Cruise struggled with dyslexia as a child and was made to write with his right hand despite being a natural lefty. He claims the Chruch of Scientology helped cure him of his dyslexia, which is one of many things the cult claims to be able to do.

Oprah Winfrey owns a media empire stretching over four decades. The former host of The Oprah Winfrey Show has done much for the African-American community. She owns Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), runs the website Oprah Daily, and is involved in many other media-related operations. 

Winfrey is also a big philanthropist who has helped many different charities and political parties over the years.

It seems to be a normal thing for left handed musicians to play instruments with their right hands. The great David Bowie taught himself to play a right-handed guitar, but for good reason. There weren’t enough left-handed guitars about in the post-war U.K., so he used a right handed one. Makes perfect sense.

Best known for playing Betty Draper on AMC’s Mad Men, January Jones is a left handed actress. The former model has been working in the movie industry for roughly two decades, with some of her credits including movies American Wedding, X-Men: First Class, and We Are Marshalls, along with TV series The Last Man on Earth and Spinning Out. 

15. Leonardo da Vinci 

The man responsible for the “Mona Lisa,” “The Last Supper,” and the parachute was also a lefty. Many believe Leonardo da Vinci to be the most gifted left handed person in the world, with Time saying this about the painter, sculptor, and inventor; “Historians have suggested that da Vinci’s left-handedness added to his genius because it forced him to think and see in an extraordinary way.”

16. Keanu Reeves

How can you not love Keanu Reeves? The internet is littered with stories about the actor and musicians’ good deeds. The nicest guy in Hollywood has starred in classic movies such as Point Break, The Matrix, and John Wick.

While he is left handed, Reeves plays bass right handed and often shoots weapons with his right hand, meaning he might actually be ambidextrous.

17. Gordon Ramsey

Famous chef and reality TV star Gordon Ramsey is another lefty. Even though most kitchen equipment is designed for use by right handed folk, Ramsey gets on with it with little fuss, which is strange coming from someone renowned for making a scene. 

18. Celine Dion

If you have ever seen Celine Dion perform live you will have noticed she holds the microphone in her left hand. That’s because the “My Heart Will Go On” and “The Power of Love” songstress is left handed. 

19. Judy Garland

Judy Garland was a huge star during the early years of Hollywood. The singer and actress is revered for playing Dorothy Gale in The Wizard of Oz. Garland won a slew of awards during her career and became the first woman to win a Grammy Award for Album of the Year with her 1961 live recording Judy at Carnegie Hall.

20. Kurt Cobain

The frontman of Nirvana was a troubled genius who turned grunge into the genre of the 90s. As well as being a master songwriter, Cobain played guitar but was often criticized for his choice of brand.

According to The Complete History of Guitar World, Cobain told Guitar World the reason why he often played cheaper guitars was because; “I’m left-handed, and it’s not very easy to find reasonably priced, high-quality left-handed guitars.”

21. Spike Lee

Acclaimed director Spike Lee is another lefty who was outed when caught signing his name on a DVD version of 1989’s Do the Right Thing with his left hand. This hasn’t had an impact on Lee’s directing career, with the New Yorker responsible for cult hits She’s Gotta Have It, Jungle Fever, 25th Hour, and He Got Game.

The creator of The Simpsons let his left handed ways influence the characters on his show. He made several of them left handed, including Bart Simpson, Marge Simpson, Principal Skinner, Moe, and Ned Flanders. Fans will remember Flanders even opened a left handed shop known as The Leftorium. 

23. Babe Ruth

Sandy Koufax wasn’t the only left hander to make it in the big leagues. Fellow baseball star Babe Ruth was also a lefty. While he too started life as a pitcher, he became famous as an outfielder and for hitting big home runs. Ruth is one of the greatest baseball players of all time

The author and disabioity advocate led a fulfilling life that saw her travel the globe, write 14 books, and make a great impact while working for the American Foundation for the Blind.

Although he shoots with this right hand, LeBron James does everything else with his left hand. The reason being that as he was growing up, all his favorite players were right handed, so he learnt to shoot that way to be more like them. Off the court he does everything else, like sign autographs, with his left hand. 

26. Hugh Jackman

Australian superstar Hugh Jackman can do it all. He can sing, he can dance, and he can act, and he manages to do all three as a left handed person. While not immediate, if you watch Jackman on the screen you can see he often defers to his left side when carrying out tasks. 

27. Scarlett Johansson

Black Widow is another movie star who prefers to use her left hand. Scarlett Johansson has always been left handed and if you watch her in any action film, she normally shoots weapons with her left hand.
